Gingerbread or Gingerbread Men.

Ingredients:

250g plain flour

50g sugar

125g butter

1tsp bicarbonate of soda

1tsp mixed spice

2tsps ground ginger

250g golden treacle ( or half black treacle )

1 egg

100ml milk

Method:

If you want to cut out gingerbread men shapes, use half the recipe. This is a soft gingerbread recipe.

Start by greasing or lining a baking tin ( 20cm x 25cm ) Turn the oven on to 150°C.

Mix all the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Put the butter and treacle into a saucepan and heat until the butter has melted. Cool slightly. Add to the dry ingredients.

Warm the milk in the pan. Add the milk to the bowl stirring well. Finally add the egg. Beat well until the mixture is smooth.

Pour the mixture into the tin

Bake for approximately 45 minutes if using half the mixture, and a little longer if baking the full recipe.
