Ingredients:
- 250g bread flour
- 1 sachet yeast
- 1 tsp Salt
- 160ml warm water
- Olive Oil
Method:
- Mix together the flour, yeast, salt and 1½ teaspoons of oil. Add the water a little at a time until you form a soft dough
- Pour a little oil onto the work surface and knead the dough for for 5-10 minutes. Place it into a clean, oiled bowl. Cover and leave to prove until doubled in size (around 1 hour)
- Preheat the oven to 250c and place a clean baking tray inside
- Once the dough has risen, put it on a floured surface and knock it back. Split into 4-6 equally sized balls and roll each into an oval shape around 5mm thick
- Remove the hot tray from the oven, dust with flour and place the pitta breads on it
- Bake for 5 minutes, or until they just start to colour. The pitta bread should puff up in whilst cooking. Remove them from the oven and cover with a clean cloth
