Gammon in Pastry Crust

Ingredients:  

1kg Gammon Joint

1kg Flour

500ml Cold Water

1 Egg, Beaten 

Method:

  1. Place the gammon in pan and cover with water. Simmer for 1 hour or until cooked through
  1. Pre-heat the oven to 180°C  
  1. Remove ham from the pan and drain. Leave to cool slightly.  
  1. In a bowl, mix the flour and water together until you form a soft dough. Roll out the dough into a large square, big enough to wrap the gammon  
  1. Place the gammon on one side of dough and fold over to enclose it. Brush dough with egg.
  1. Place on a baking tray and bake in the oven for 45 minutes or until golden brown
